Wayne and I live 15 miles Northeast of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta on a 4 acre parcel of land. We bought our first Alpacas in March of 2000 when Wayne attended an auction. He came home with 3 pregnant females and no hay, fencing or shelter! Needless to say we were scrambling! Our neighbor supplied us with a large bale of hay and we build a small crude shelter out of scrap lumber! We immediately fell in love with these incredible animals. They each had their own personality and soon became pets! With a few more purchases, including our incredible herd sire Cinnamon, we were showing our Alpacas by the summer of 2001.

Over the next 2 years we won numerous ribbons and were really enjoying our animals when we had some of our best show animals die. After much testing we determined that they had liver flukes. (If you would like to read more about this devastating disease read this article (Page 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) written by myself and published in June 2003 issue of Camelid Quarterly). We immediately stopped attending shows and finally, after 4 years with no more incidents, started showing again. Today we have numerous shelters, a barn, fencing and 26 animals! We still have some finishing work to do on the barn as well as developing more pastures. Our goal for the future is to get back into our breeding program and continue showing these beautiful animals!

Check out pictures on Our Animals page as well as our Fashions/Fibre page for information on their fibre and all the items I make with this amazing fibre!

A lot of people ask where we got the name "Ravenscrag" from. A close friend of Wayne's had an oil and gas company called Ravenscrag Resources. He died a few years ago unexpectedly from brain cancer. We chose this name in memory of him.
